Greg Bell - CEO Utah Hospital Association
Greg Bell is President and CEO of the Utah Hospital Association. Greg brings more than 23 years of public policy experience to UHA, having most recently served as Lieutenant Governor for the state of Utah from September 1, 2009 until joining UHA in October 2013. Previously, he served as a Senator and in the leadership of the Utah State Senate.
Bell has provided leadership on a number of healthcare policy issues, including:
Chair of the Executive Health Policy Group, composed of Utah’s top healthcare policy leaders, which prepared the state-wide Health Innovation Plan presented at the Governor’s Healthcare Summit in September. Chair of the Governor’s Tort Reform Medical Liability Workgroup, which recently developed a ground-breaking, voluntary Early Disclosure and Resolution program addressing the needs of patients with adverse medical outcomes. Co-Chair of the Avenue H Advisory Board. Chair of Utah’s Emergency Management Administration Council responsible to coordinate state, local, federal and private sector emergency response planning, including hospitals and other health systems, as well as its Private Sector counterpart. As a state senator, he served on the Legislative Health Reform Task Force.
He has also been active in a variety of community initiatives including serving as chair of the Homeless Coordinating Council, Utah Commission on Volunteers, the Utah Multi-Cultural Commission, and Honorary Co-Chair with Mayor Ralph Becker of the Civility Group Advisory Board. As a state senator, Bell sponsored more than 20 healthcare-related bills or resolutions from 2003-2009.
Born and raised in Ogden, Utah, he graduated from Weber State University and the S.J. Quinney College of Law (University of Utah). He practiced law at Kirton & McConkie and most recently at Fabian & Clendenin.
Bell is a past mayor and city councilman of Farmington. He was Chair of Envision Utah, an internationally acclaimed collaborative land use and transportation planning organization. He was president of the Farmington Bay District of the BSA and was awarded the Silver Beaver. Bell and his wife, JoLynn, currently reside in Fruit Heights, Utah. They are the parents of six children and 21 grandchildren. |
