| CMIO, University of Utah Hospitals and Clinics Dr. Michael B. Strong is an Associate Professor of Medicine (Clinical) at the University of Utah. He completed his medical school training at Baylor College of Medicine in 1993 and Internal Medicine Residency at the University of Utah in 1996. He served as the Chief Medical Resident at the University of Utah from 1996-1997. He joined a private, Internal Medicine practice in Salt Lake City, Utah following his residency training but returned to the University of Utah in 1999 where he was the founder of the Hospitalist Program there. He served as the director of the Hospitalist group until 2010. He has a strong interest in clinical education and has received an Outstanding Teacher Award from the Department of Internal Medicine eight times. In 2008, Dr. Strong was named the Chief Medical Information Officer for the University of Utah Hospital. In this role he led the implementation of the Computerized Provider Order Entry (COPE) system at the University of Utah Hospital and Clinics. In 2012 his role was expanded to oversee IT efforts and the Enterprise Data Warehouse for the entire Health Sciences Center and he was named as Chief Medical Information Officer for University of Utah Healthcare. He has an ongoing interest in computerized decision support, system development and data delivery. |
