Charles is the Chief Innovation Officer for Clearsense, a healthcare analytics organization specializing in bringing “Big Data” technologies to healthcare. Prior to Clearsense Charles was the Enterprise Analytics Architect for Stony Brook Medicine and the University of California, Irvine. In his role he is developed the analytics infrastructure to serve the clinical, operational, quality and research needs of both organizations. He was a founding member of the team that developed the Health and Human Services award winning application "NowTrending" to assist in the early detection of disease outbreaks utilizing social media feeds. Charles holds a MS in Technology Management from Stevens Institute of Technology and is the President of the American Nursing Informatics Association.

Eric Gombrich

Chief of Digital Partnerships

Eric Gombrich is a healthcare technology veteran, with 30 years of experience spanning both the continuum of care, and the globe. He is currently the first Chief of Digital Partnerships for Providence Health & Service’s Digital Innovation Group, leading the effort to bring the innovations PH&S is evolving to caregivers and patients both within PH&S and outside.

Eric has a track-record of success in entrepreneurial enterprises on the ‘bleeding edge’ of healthcare. He has previously been the General Manager of one of the first focused efforts in Patient Engagement (NexJ Systems), CEO of the North American division of the UK’s leading MD office EMR vendor (EMIS Inc.), VP of International Business Development for one of the first portal and integration companies (Carefx), a Regional Director with one of the early leaders in computerized physician order entry (CPOE) and HIS solutions (Eclipsys; now Allscripts), introduced a first of kind telepathology and robotic cytology solution with integrated proteomic & genomic analysis, and led the implementation of the industry’s first bedside system utilizing the first applications of bar coding and wireless connectivity (Clinicom; now part of McKesson). He has participated in the effort to obtain FDA and CE certification of various solutions, and has led the effort to achieve ISO 13485:2001 certification for quality management of medical devices.

Eric has done business not only across the United States, but extensively in Canada, the UK & Europe, Japan, and Australia. He has served on numerous industry boards, committees, and task forces, and has been actively involved in not-for-profit and community programs including Junior Achievement, Make-a-Wish, and environmental initiatives.

Karen Kennedy, RN, MBA

Nurse Informaticist, Scripps Health

Karen joined the Medical Management team at Scripps Health with 10 years of clinical informatics expertise. During her first year at Scripps Karen played instrumental roles which lead Scripps to meeting and exceeding several Meaningful Use initiatives. Specific leadership roles include: developed and conducted the system wide usability study, participated and ensured the EHR certification requirements were met through ICSA Labs (International Computer Security Association). Karen was the project lead for discharge medication lists required for the patient portal.
Karen started her nursing career as a staff RN at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in New Brunswick, NJ in the pediatric medical surgical and intensive care units. Throughout her career she worked in several healthcare arenas and gained expertise in case management, quality, homecare, hospice, and education. Positions include: Regional Clinical Informaticist, Senior Director of Education & Compliance, Corporate Regional Compliance Specialist, and Continuous Quality Improvement Manager (CQIM). Karen’s informatics background includes project manager during implementation & conversions of EHRs to include: Epic, Cerner, McKesson, Meditech and HMS.
Karen’s current focus is on improved healthcare through information technology. She works closely with executive management teams, analysts and front-line staff to ultimately enhance and optimize technology and informatics tools that help clinicians provide improved care and positive health outcomes for patients. Karen currently Co-Chairs the Marketing Committee for the SoCal HIMSS Organization.

Jeanne McNerney

Director, Healthcare Advisory

As Director for KPMG’s Healthcare Advisory Practice, Jeanne McNerney brings over 20 years of management consulting experience to the health systems to bear. Having worked with integrated delivery networks and independent health systems, her deep practical knowledge of the issues facing healthcare providers, and understanding of the convergence happening in the marketplace assist her in advising KPMG’s provider and payer clientele as they work to transform their operations.

With a special interest in digital and mobility solutions focused on engaging patients and supporting providers as they manage Population Health Jeanne helps KPMG’s clients address their business initiatives by looking forward to address market change.

Jeanne currently supports work focused on cost savings, organizational transformation and systems optimization. By bringing leading practices to clients who are addressing clinical and back-office process improvement issues She works together with KPMG’s Partners from across all Audit, Tax and Advisory practices to build teams of top subject matter professionals (SMP), to collaboratively address current state challenges, and help execute upon complex business transformation projects while driving toward a positive ROI.

Prior to joining KPMG, Ms. McNerney managed a boutique healthcare advisory firm where she provided financial, clinical and operational insights to the local Southern CA healthcare provider market. Jeanne helped align organizational priorities, conducted technology assessments and facilitated solution selection workshops for healthcare providers. Her breadth of healthcare, medical-device and the bio-tech experience has gained her a reputation as a trusted advisor, and connector of healthcare leaders.

Cheryl D. Parker, PhD, RN-BC, FHIMSS

Cheryl D. Parker, PhD, RN-BC, FHIMSS has over 35 years’ experience in the healthcare industry including clinical nursing, management, nursing informatics, and education both corporate and academic. She is a section editor for the HIMSS Clinical Informatics Newsletter,  is on the Board of Directors for the American Nursing Informatics Organization (ANIA). Dr. Parker is a frequent contributor to the growing body of healthcare knowledge as a presenter and author and for the past 10 years has been passionate about clinical mobility.

Kevin Torf

Kevin Torf is a Managing Partner at T2 Technology Group. He has over 25 years of experience managing large-scale IT projects for organizations such as: UCLA Health, Stanford Health Care, Sharp HealthCare, Children’s Hospital Los Angeles, Saint John’s Health Center (Santa Monica), and Kootenai Health,. Over the years, Kevin has played an instrumental role in the design and implementation of some of the world’s largest network communication systems, with budgets in excess of $100 Million. For the past three-and-a-half years, Kevin has worked closely with Kootenai Health to develop and implement a $23 million strategic IT plan to insource their IT services and support the delivery of high-quality patient care.

Kyle Torf

Senior IS Project Manager

Kyle Torf is a Senior IS Project Manager at T2 Technology Group. For the past three-and-a-half years, Kyle has worked closely with Kootenai Health as they implemented multiple systems with a focus on streamlining nurse workflows and improving patient engagement. Key projects have included virtual desktop infrastructure (VDI), single sign-on (SSO), and interactive patient care. To date, Kyle has managed the implementation of clinical workflow enhancements, which equate to nearly $7 million in soft savings over a 5-year period. Kyle is currently managing a two-year, interactive patient care implementation for Kootenai Health’s new hospital wing and existing 254-bed hospital facility.
