Spring 2014Message from the President

Clark KegleyI hope that all of you are enjoying the wonderful weather we have been experiencing in Southern California. We have been truly blessed when much of the rest of the country has had a challenging winter.

As we transition into Spring, there is much to communicate to our membership about things happening in the chapter.

1. Several of our Board members attended the annual HIMSS Conference in Orlando in February. They also accepted the Chapter of the Year award for our chapter. This is the 2nd time in the last 3 years that our chapter has won this award. This award recognizes the amazing work that our Programs Team has done to present a wide variety of programs to members. Congratulations to all of the volunteers working to make our programs some of the best in the country!

2. Also held at the annual HIMSS Conference was our 4th annual Networking Event. This event is co-sponsored with our friends from the Northern California chapter and was held in the Microsoft booth on the convention floor. As it has done in years past, the event sold out and good time was had by all. We are already discussing next years’ event and are considering holding if offsite rather than on the convention floor.

Events coming up include our annual Healthcare IT Conference on April 1st in Los Angeles. The annual Clinical Informatics Summit will be on May 2nd in Orange County. Registration websites are, or will soon be, open for both events. so keep an eye on the Southern California’s Chapter website. These events often sell out so sign up early!

Lastly, as my year serving as Chapter President starts to wind down, I want to thank the dozens of volunteers that work on our various committees and make up your Board of Directors. All of these folks have full lives outside of their chapter work but still dedicate countless hours to HIMSS and its members. Our chapter is in excellent hands with these folks.

Thank you for your continued support of the Southern California Chapter!
Clark Kegley
