Winter 2015Membership Committee

By Kim Green, Chair Membership Committee

Kim family1The HIMSS SoCal Membership Committee is one of the few ‘lone wolf’ committees in the SoCal Chapter. Currently, Kim Green serves as Chair and the one and only member of this esteemed group. Thanks to the development and teachings of her predecessor, Dean Torres, Kim was able to quickly and easily track the ever-changing membership landscape of the Chapter and begin to address growth in specific demographics.

Our goal for the current 2014-2015 year is to increase membership by 15% with a specific focus on Organizational Affiliates (OAs) and Student Membership.  So far, we are happy to announce a 100% increase in Student Membership - thanks to the joint efforts of the AAC and Membership committees, adding 67 new students to the SoCal Chapter in the last month. Watch out OAs – you’re next!! Just remember, if you are at a hospital that is a current OA affiliate, you can join our Southern California chapter and enjoy the benefits at no additional cost!

Beyond keeping track of trending numbers, the Membership Committee serves as the starting point for all interested volunteers, helping our members find committees of interest and pairing them with appropriate chairs. This Chapter depends and thrives on the contributions of our volunteers!

When Kim, affectionately nicknamed “Gator” by the Chapter Board, is not crunching numbers or placing new members, she does attend to her day job occasionally. She is a Senior Account Manager with Salient Networks in Carlsbad, a systems integrator. Due to her husband’s career in the US Navy, she, her husband, and son, Jack, relocated to the East Coast this summer, far away from good Mexican food and margaritas. The only silver lining in leaving California is being a bit closer (not much) to her beloved University of Florida Gators. Go Gators!
