Spring 2015Committee Profile

by Geri Pavia, VP, Programs for SoCal HIMSS

Programs at Work this Year! Highlights from a fantastic group of individuals. Yet another stellar year!

Programs had a busy winter. The Healthcare IT Conference was held last month. Mark Jahn and Sunny Saran co-chaired a program that featured a keynote by our fearless leader, James Brady, and 12 excellent speakers and panelists. We also put on an Innovation Lab with 10 vendors demonstrating their innovative healthcare solutions. Even though it was held on a Monday, we had our highest registration, 294, for the HIT Conference yet. Additionally in February we supported two other programs, the CPHIMS prep course and the Clinical Informatics Networking event in the desert. In January, Hoag Hospital Conference Center was bursting at the seams for our 5th Annual Privacy & Security Forum, which drew a crowd interested in hearing from HIMSS National and the FBI. Looking forward, we are now in the preparing for the Annual Clinical Informatics Summit in May, to be held at the Beckman Center at UC, Irvine.

As we look forward to another year in our award winning chapter, allow me to applaud all of the individuals who truly contributed to our success this past year. A big thank you to: Joanne Underwood, our amazing support person who works tirelessly alongside everyone; Bonnie Schwartz, our speaker coordinator; Scott Cebula and Steve Edison, co-chairs of the CIO Forum; Sri Bharadwaj and Bowe Hoy, co-chairs of the Privacy & Security Forum; Mark Jahn and Sunny Saran, co-chairs of the Healthcare IT Conference; and Toon Prasertsit, chair of Clinical Informatics Summit. We also appreciate the close partnership of Angela Rivera and Adam Burns of the sponsorship committee, and Dianne Baker of the Communications and Marketing Committee.
