Austin HIMSS April 9th Lunch & Learn
Joe C Thompson Conference Center
2405 Robert Dedman Drive
Austin, Texas 78712
Darrell Woelk, contributor to the data standard, will provide an update and overview of recent activity with FHIR!
The HL7 FHIR specification recently became a normative standard and both the ONC and CMS have proposed new rules that will require the use of the FHIR API for enabling access to patient records in healthcare organizations. Come learn about these updates and the progress made at recent connectathons and the HIMSS '19 interoperability showcase. Time will also be allotted for members to talk about their own FHIR-related efforts in the Austin area, so come with your questions and a short pitch!
Darrell's talk will focus on how FHIR, SMART on FHIR, and CDS Hooks are being used to:
- create a market for innovative apps that can be used with EHRs
- increase coordination between providers and insurance companies
- develop and deliver coordinated Care Plans
- communicate information from genomic labs to the point of care
- increase the impact of evidence from EHRs in clinical research
