Webinar Schedule:

April 23:
Title: How to conduct a patient visit electronically. Using telehealth to speed diagnosis and control exposure
Overview: The implementation of a telehealth solution can be a challenge due to the complex regulations, lower reimbursement than traditional visits and some payers not reimbursing at all for telehealth visits. The recent COVID-19 pandemic created a need to care for patients while adhering to the necessity for social distancing which could only be met by a telehealth solution. This short presentation will provide an overview to the temporary changes to the telehealth regulations implemented by CMS, Ohio Medicaid and payers.
Presenters: Cathy Costello, JD, CPHIMS, Director, CliniSyncPLUS Services & Scott Mash, MSLIT, CPHIMS, FHIMSS, Director of Consulting Operations & HIE Outreach, CliniSync

•What EHR use data shows about education’s impact on provider satisfaction
•How provider education programs increase provider satisfaction
•What activities are impacted the most by provider education
•How to design education programs to maximize results

Title:  COVID19 May Have Just Saved US Healthcare

Overview: There’s nothing like a good crisis to cause a re-evaluation of how we do things. While any epidemic is sure to stress the health system of just about any country, in the United States we needed to be jarred out of our comfort zone to re-think how we do things and how we more efficiently deliver healthcare services to the population.

Learning Objectives:
•Hear how different healthcare providers are dealing with the current crisis and avoiding meltdown.
•Gain insights into the future of digital healthcare delivery.
•Evaluate new technologies that improve healthcare delivery, security and access and how they are already helping to change the balance.
•Learn how increased automation, AI and machine learning will help to revolutionize healthcare delivery and management of our hospitals and clinics.

Presenters: Richard Staynings, Chief Security Strategist, Cylera, Boulder, CO and Michael Archuleta, Chief Information Officer, Mt. San Rafael Hospital, Trinidad, CO

Title: COVID Made Me Do It! – An Agile Approach

Oveview: Certainly, Agile approaches do not work for many healthcare projects.  Life critical commercial off the shelf software (COTS) packages often have tried and true project plans.  If a COTS package has an existing project plan that has worked well 100 times before why do anything else?  But what to do in the face of a Global Pandemic where the demands are “Deliver It today!” and “It” is not well defined?  Would agile help?  Come to this interactive session and share your point of view in a structured live virtual workshop.

Learning Objectives:

  • Learn a framework to evaluate using agile methods
  • Use a live online virtual tool to offer their insight
  • Evaluate several COVID-19 Inspired Projects

Presenters: Andy Burns, Chief Scrum Master, Siemens Digital Industries and Andrew Nixon, Director of Informatics Operations Support

Title: Optimizing Telehealth and Remote Patient Monitoring in the Evolving COVID19 Environment

Oveview: Through the 1135 Waiver authority, CMS waived certain telehealth requirements that have long presented a barrier to utilization and expansion of telehealth technology in the delivery of healthcare. This waiver was issued in order to limit the community spread of COVID-19 and keep vulnerable patients in their homes while maintaining access to needed routine and screening care. Prior to the Public Health Emergency declaration, the provision of healthcare services through telehealth faced many barriers which included acceptance of the technology by both patients and providers. The regulatory and reimbursement requirements for these services did not encourage and likely discourage implementation of telehealth. Telehealth regulations at both the Federal and State levels have not kept pace with technology.
Prior to the COVID-19 outbreak, the American Telehealth Association projected that by 2030 50% of medical consultation would be conducted by virtual means. Many industry experts saw this as an ambitious projection. The changes we are seeing in the midst of this world-wide pandemic will likely serve as a catalyst for spurring not only use of telehealth technology, but acceptance by providers, patients, payers and regulators.
Given current economic unknowns, healthcare providers must ensure reimbursement for the services provided and identify those services that best meet the clinical needs of patients while protecting the financial health of their organizations. In this presentation, we discuss not only reimbursement requirements under waiver services; but, how to use the processes setup during this public health emergency for the financial benefit of healthcare providers.

Learning Objectives:

•Telemedicine and Remote Patient Monitoring prior to 1135 Waiver
•Identify how the 1135 Waiver changed reimbursement for Telemedicine and Remote Patient Monitoring
•Reimbursement and billing for care provided during an 1135 Waiver
•Identify opportunities to increase revenue through Remote Patient Monitoring and Chronic Care Management
