Program Summary

The US Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) is a massive organization with a projected IT budget of $12B for 2017 alone. HHS has 11 operating divisions, including eight agencies in the U.S. Public Health Service and three human services agencies. These divisions administer a wide variety of health and human services and conduct life-saving research for the nation, protecting and serving all Americans. All of these OpDivs have critical roles in the delivery of care and services to our population. With a majority of the budget being set aside for operations and maintenance (O&M) how is the department and its operating divisions (OPDIVS) accounting for innovation? This event will have two parts: hear directly from HHS on what trends in innovative technology and policies they see being adopted; what priorities they will put on innovation moving forward throughout the coming years; and, what lasting changes the new administration will have on HHS. The second part of our HIMSS-NCA program will focus on demonstrations of existing and new innovative HHS projects.
