Ascension has utilized "Home in Time" at Austin facilities to optimize clinicians’ use of EHR technology in the acute care space.


Originally conceived in the ambulatory space, the program was adapted for the unique needs of acute care clinicians and due to COVID-19, delivered in a virtual environment. 

As part of a comprehensive program to improve clinician wellbeing, Ascension has utilized "Home in Time" at Austin facilities to optimize clinicians’ use of EHR technology in the acute care space. 

This presentation details how Ascension identified which clinician skills to optimize, the training content and the tools used to deliver the promise of "Home In Time".

Peter Sanderson, MD, MBA

Dr Sanderson attended Northwestern University as an undergraduate, received an MD from the Medical College of Georgia and an MBA from the University of Tennessee Knoxville.  An accomplished Family Physician, he has also had  extensive management responsibilities within healthcare.  He has been a physician leader of several medical group regions within Ascension Health, the nations largest non-government health care provider.  He has been a member of the board for both hospitals and health insurance companies, has chaired volunteer non-profit organizations and has been part of management teams with responsibility for presenting to medical group, hospital, insurance company and health system boards.  He has been a committee member or advisor for universities, the Wisconsin Medical Society, health insurance companies, and Medicare contractors.  He is currently the Senior Director of Clinical Informatics for Ascension with responsibility for developing, implementing, maintaining and improving the use of electronic health record tools across all of Ascension's 18 state service area.
