National Health IT Week

National Health IT (NHIT) Week is a nationwide awareness week focused on the value of health IT. Each year, NHIT Week Partners educate industry and policy stakeholders on the value of health IT for the US healthcare system. Learn more at: www.healthitweek.org

Congratulations to the Colorado Chapter, NJ & Delaware Valley Chapters, Greater Illinois Chapter and the Louisiana Chapter who accepted the challenge to conduct regional and statewide meetings during National Health IT Week, October 2–6, 2017.  

The chapters will highlight model health IT practices and legislation that promote HIMSS’s overarching goal of better health through IT based on the following activities during the week:  

Southern Region:  Louisiana HIMSS joins forces with the Louisiana Department of Health on the 2nd Annual Connect Louisiana Symposium The event will be held on October 3 in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, at the Louisiana’s Old State Capitol. The event is co-sponsored with the Louisiana Department of Health. The Louisiana Chapter is also joining with the Louisiana Hospital Association, Louisiana Medical Society and Louisiana Tech University to conduct an opioid “hackathon” in conjunction with the conference. Keynote speakers for the conference are both former Louisiana State Officials and National Coordinators for Health Information Technology, Karen DeSalvo, MD and Vindell Washington, MD.

Eastern Region: The Delaware Valley and New Jersey Chapters will focus their National Health IT week events during their 10th Annual Fall Conference on October 4-6and it will be held in Atlantic City, NJ at Harrah’s Resort and Casino. A networking reception will precede the conference on Wednesday evening. The Thursday conference includes a packed schedule of keynote presentations and five educational track sessions. The agenda and theme will celebrate 10 years of HIT Collaboration, Leadership and Learning.

Mid-West Region: The Greater Illinois Chapter will hold their National Health IT week event on October 5, in Chicago, Illinois at the Catalyst Ranch-West Loop. The main theme and agenda will focus on the Opioid crisis as it relates to Health IT challenges

Western Region: The Colorado Chapter will have their National Health IT week event on October 5 at the Denver Art Museum. This gathering will showcase leaders of and movement in HIT across Colorado and how the CHIMSS Chapter intends to serve its members this 2017-18 year.
