Join New England HIMSS for first after dark virtual happy hour where you will have the opportunity to meet with members of NEHIMSS Past President Club to “Ask the Expert” about career advancement. The Past Presidents Club represents over 20 years of NE HIMSS leadership and at this event, the following Past Presidents of the chapter will coordinate the evening and answer your questions: Bob Dichter, Chief Technical Strategist, Value Care Strategies and Solutions; Clif Jay, President, Healthnet Systems Consulting; Marie Maloney, former CIO, Senior Whole Health and Managing Partner, Azoulas Advisory Services; Scott MacLean; CIO, MedStar Health; Malissa Miot, Healthcare Applications Sales Manager, Oracle; and Matt Bornstein, Sr. IT Project Manager, Harvard Medical Facility Physicians at BIDMC.

Agenda:

5:00 – 5:45 – General questions to our esteemed panel about career advancement – they represent all sectors of our industry – provider (ambulatory and health system), payer, consulting, and vendor.

5:45 – 6:30 – The attendees will decide which break-out room session to join: Provider/Payer or Consulting/Vendor. In each room, more specific conversations will continue to take place about these sectors of our industry.

Matt Bornstein MS, CPHIMSS is a former President of New England HIMSS and has worked in Healthcare IT for over 20 years. He is currently the Senior IT Project Manager for Harvard Medical Faculty Physicians at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center, Inc. For HMFP, Matt oversees all IT-related projects, including more recently leading a telehealth initiative, for the nearly 2,000 employed physician organization affiliated with BIDMC in Boston. Immediately prior to working for HMFP, Matt spent more than 15 years as the Manager of IT and Data Analysis for a small healthcare consulting firm in Burlington MA, involved in numerous IT, productivity and labor benchmarking projects throughout the country. Matt brings a unique blend of IT, project management, performance improvement and management consulting experience to his daily work life as well as his more than 10 years of involvement with the New England HIMSS chapter.
Bob Dichter has been working in healthcare technology for over 20 years. He has worked for providers, payers, vendors, as well as running a consulting firm and doing independent consulting. Bob most recently worked as a Technical Strategist for large multi-specialty physician practice and in the past has worked as Technical Sales Director for a HIE vendor and as a Senior Product Manager for a large EMR vendor.
Clif Jay has spent over 30 years in healthcare IT. He’s the founder & president of HealthNET consulting that does IT strategy, RFP system selection, and implementation for health system clients. His main memory of being a past president of NEHIMSS is that “during that era, we established the Papazzi networking social events”.
Marie Maloney is an experienced Information Technology/Healthcare Informatics consultant, educator, executive and “recovering CIO”. With over 20 years of experience in Healthcare IT, Marie has been a Chief Information Officer of several leading health care plans in the Northeast as well as a consultant in Healthcare IT. As the Managing Partner of Azuolas Advisory Services, she now consults in the provider, payer and HIE markets. Marie is also a Lecturer at Northeastern University in the interdisciplinary Health Informatics program.

Scott T. MacLean is senior vice president and chief information officer at MedStar Health. He is responsible for the leadership and vision of Information Services (IS) in support of clinical, research and academic, and administrative functions across the system.

Starting his career at General Electric, MacLean joins MedStar with more than 25 years of experience in Information Technology (IT). Prior to MedStar, he was deputy chief information officer and director of IS Operations for Partners HealthCare in Boston, Massachusetts, where he was responsible for the core technology infrastructure and overall administration of the IS department. This role included oversight of the voice and data network, data centers, desktop support, and service desk for the Partners hospitals and affiliated ambulatory practices. He oversaw the budget, space, communications, and Human Resources needs of a 1,200-person department.

Previously, MacLean was chief information officer at Newton-Wellesley Hospital and a corporate director for Partners, where he oversaw all information systems and telecommunications for Newton-Wellesley. While there, he led successful implementations of enterprise fiscal and administrative systems, several construction projects and prepared the hospital for meaningful use.

During his tenure at Partners, MacLean also served as director of Clinical Systems at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, where he was responsible for systems related to patient safety, including physician order entry, Electronic Health Record (EHR), medication administration record and bar coding. He was corporate manager of the Partners Oncology Service Line IT Program, an initiative to improve patient safety and cancer outcomes using computer systems.

MacLean was board chair for the Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society (HIMSS), and has written and spoken on technology in health care across the United States, Middle East and Asia. He is a past president of the New England Chapter of HIMSS and has served on the Ambulatory Steering and Foundation Scholarship Committees. He has been an item writer for the Certified Professional in Healthcare Information and Management Systems (CPHIMS) exam. MacLean served as a charter member of the Integrating the Healthcare Enterprise-USA (IHE-USA) Board of Directors and on an expert panel for the National Quality Forum. He has been on the HIMSS Analytics Board of Directors.

MacLean received a Bachelor of Science in electrical engineering from Clemson University and a Master of Business Administration in healthcare management from Boston University.

Malissa Miot is a Healthcare Applications Sales Manager for Oracle HCM (Human Capital Management) cloud software in the Northeast. Based in Massachusetts, she brings over 18 years of consultative technology, sales and healthcare industry experience to Oracle.

Prior to her role at Oracle, Malissa was a consultant in the Heathcare IT practice at Witt/Kieffer (executive search firm) where she worked with CHROs and other C-Suite executives to identify and recruit key IT leaders including CIOs, CMIOs, CNIOs , CTOs and VPs of Enterprise Applications for hospitals and health systems nationwide. Prior to this, Malissa was the Regional Director for the North East at Oneview Healthcare, a global startup company providing an interactive patient care platform to hospitals and healthcare facilities. Malissa also spent several years as a Senior Account Executive with Leidos Health, (formerly Vitalize Consulting Solutions) a consulting firm dedicated to the implementation, integration and optimization of healthcare IT systems and EMR vendors. In this role, she worked with C-level and other senior level executives to meet client objectives across the enterprise including ancillary, laboratory, clinical and financial departments.

Malissa currently serves a Co-Chair of the CIO Council for New England HIMSS (NEHIMSS) Chapter. She is also a Past President of the NEHIMSS Chapter and has served on the NEHIMSS Board since 2013
