Memorial Hermann Health System (MHHS) employs over 10,000 RN's; Memorial Hermann-Texas Medical Center has achieved Magnet® recognition for excellence in nursing services by the American Nurses Credentialing Center’s (ANCC) Magnet Recognition program®.

Memorial Hermann's Information System Division and System Clinical Education-Magnet program departments have collaborated to standardize and automate the processes of submitting clinically-led Evidence-Based Practice (EBP) /Research projects for publication/ presentation.

The primary goal is to facilitate evidence-based nursing practices and create novel interventions that improve patient outcomes. MHHS presentations/ publications are well-defined, verifiable, and of good quality. Clinical decision-makers at each of MHHS’ 17 hospitals are provided with the automated delivery of dashboards and reports, as well as self-service access to EBP project data to build or customize their own reports.

Speakers

Jody Collins, MSN, RN, NPD-BC

System Director, Clinical Education, Memorial Hermann Health System

Jody has some 28 plus years in the healthcare industry, with the past 15 years as a nurse leader at Memorial Hermann Health System. She received her Master’s degree in Nursing Education from Texas Tech University-Health Science Center and holds a professional certification in Nursing Professional Development.

Her professional scope of responsibility includes overseeing clinical competency and professional development implementation for some 30,000 employees; including the Memorial Hermann ANCC Accredited with Distinction, Practice Transition - Nurse Residency Program. She is active in a variety of professional nursing organizations; including serving in leadership positions for the Texas Nurses Association – District 9.

Jody has a strong passion for nursing excellence and innovation, evidence based quality improvements, and professional development of clinical nurses. Collins has been the primary author for three successful ANCC Magnet designations for the organization and is the author of a Critical Care Nursing Clinics of North America article on Nutrition in Critical Care Illness, multiple posters – presented at national ANCC - Magnet and ANA nursing conferences and is the IRB Research project Primary Investigator and Co-Investigator – multiple studies; including current nurse led research study around utilizing evidence-based assessment tools to make hiring decisions for best fit.


Barre Morris, PMP, CSM, MCP

Project Management Office (PMO)-Information Systems Division (ISD) - Memorial Hermann Systems Services,

Barre has almost twenty-five (25) years of diversified experiences managing Information Technology (I.T.) portfolios, programs, projects and cross-functional project teams to deliver desktop, client-server, web-based, IaaS, PaaS, and SaaS solutions.  He is a Certified Project Management Professional (PMP), a Scrum Master (CSM), a Microsoft Certified Data Analyst Associate, and is also certified in Microsoft’s Power Platform Fundamentals.  In addition, Barre has extensive experience facilitating workshops to elicit and review business requirements with stakeholders, including developing functional specifications and technical designs.

In July of 2000, Barre took his first helicopter ride on Memorial Hermann’s Life Flight® to the Memorial Hermann Red Duke Trauma Institute after suffering a traumatic brain injury (TBI) during a life threatening car collision.  In 2016, he completed TIRR Memorial Hermann’s Challenge Program which taught him strategies to function at his best while dealing with the residual effects of the TBI he sustained.  After completing the program, Barre accepted an employment opportunity within Memorial Hermann’s Information Systems Division Department as a Senior Project Manager.

Barre, has volunteered in various non-profit organizations supporting and improving both adult professional development, as well as youth Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (S.T.E.M.) education. He is a father, and a certified 24/7 Dad© group facilitator for the National Fatherhood Initiative©, helping fathers to be involved, responsible, and committed 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.  He is passionate about improving and promoting health and wellness and continues to lead efforts that optimize healthcare engagements and improving patient care outcomes.
