Please join us for a time of networking and hearing from two experts in innovative patient care from Barnes-Jewish Hospital. Participants learn to identify how technology can augment patient care and capture clinical milestones in real time; and discuss how technology can improve workflow and communication among team members.

Speakers

Patricia Potter, PhD, RN, FAAN

Director, Research for Patient Care Services
Barnes-Jewish Hospital

Dr. Potter has served as a staff nurse, nurse manager, clinical director, and director of nursing practice at BJH over two decades. She transitioned to a career in nursing research and worked at Siteman Center at Washington University School of Medicine. Pat returned to BJH as the Director of Research for nursing and allied health in 2011. Pat’s research has focused on compassion fatigue of caregivers, patient and caregiver education, and reduction in patient falls. In 2015, Pat was the program manager for the hospital’s first innovation unit, testing evidence-based practices, care delivery, and technology. She collaborated with Dr. Anne Perry to write four nursing textbooks, the first published in 1985. The next “Fundamentals of Nursing” will be the 10th edition. Pat has won numerous awards over her career, most recently the March Of Dimes, Nurse Researcher of the Year, 2016. She earned her BSN from the University of Washington, and MSN & PhD from Saint Louis University

Elizabeth Pratt, DNP, RN, ACNS-BC

Director, Enhanced Surgical Recovery
Barnes-Jewish Hospital

Dr. Pratt has served 19 years at BJC with experience as a staff nurse, charge nurse, nurse educator, clinical nurse specialist, and research scientist. She focuses on employing evidence-based practices in clinical care and improving medication safety. In 2015, Liz was the project coordinator for the hospital’s first innovation unit, testing evidence-based practices, care delivery, and technology. She currently oversees the enhanced recovery program for 50 elective surgeries at Barnes-Jewish Hospital and Washington University School of Medicine. Liz earned her BSN and MSN from St. Louis University and DNP from Vanderbilt University.
