This one-day boot camp is an opportunity for healthcare industry professionals to learn and apply modern machine learning, visualizations and advanced analytics, using R, a free, powerful open-source programming language. The training will help you add statistical insights to your reporting and decision-making. By the end of this eight-hour session, you will be able to take raw data, import it into R, and conduct analysis with a variety of advanced analytical techniques. Topics will include basic data importing, working with directories, reading in data, installing packages, creating simple visualizations, and how to clean, explore and sort your data. Techniques for prediction, classification and clustering of data will be covered.

Award-winning Smith School assistant professor Courtney Paulson will be the lead instructor, with CHIDS deputy director Kenyon Crowley providing training too.

Cost: $150 ($500 off, as this opportunity is sponsored by a grant from the Maryland DLLR EARN Program)

Skill level: Intermediate

Boot Camp prerequisites: This session will be most helpful if you’re comfortable working with data and you’re ready to take your skills to the next level. You will need to bring a laptop.
