A Note from President-Elect:  Denise Mainquest

As I work with healthcare organizations across Nebraska and beyond, I see the challenges that come with managing PHI and keeping it secure when resources may be limited. The challenges just keep coming, so it is important to stay responsive to risks and vulnerabilities as well as adding new functionality to systems. One of the most valuable ways to accomplish this is to work together and share experiences, concerns and solutions.

HIMSS conferences and especially the Nebraska Chapter consistently provide relevant information and opportunities to stay informed and proactive. I have worked on the program selection committee for the national conference for the past two years and am impressed by the number of quality sessions offered there as well.

I am excited to work with the Nebraska Chapter in a leadership position. Thank you for your confidence in me.

2015 WINTER CPHIMS Prep Class and Exam

This last year NEHIMSS provided the opportunity to Nebraska HIMSS member and Great Plains HIMSS members to attend a prep class for CPHIMS.  Providing this opportunity close to home allowed those who wanted to certify be able to do so more easily.  There were 12 people who attended the prep class, and about half of those that attended took the CPHIMS test.  The trainer from National HIMSS provided excellent advise and preparation for the test.  Sam King the trainer was very knowledgeable and provided added value to attendees.

The CPHIMS credential will help your career by:

  • Demonstrating you meet an international standard of professional knowledge and competence in healthcare information and management systems
  • Increasing your credibility with your employer
  • Showing a commitment to continuing professional development
  • Enjoying a sense of personal and professional achievements

2016 Upcoming HIMSS Events

The event planning is underway for the Nebraska HIMSS Spring Meeting.  It will be located in the middle of the state.  We encourage those that live miles from Eastern Nebraska to attend and network with many IT professionals, clinicians, executives, and vendors from around this great state of Nebraska.  This is the time and opportunity to focus on new innovations, opportunities, and progressive solutions to improve healthcare technology.  There will be exceptional education, wonderful speakers, and powerful networking opportunities. More information to come.  Please keep an eye on Nebraska HIMSS website for more details and an opportunity to sign up.
