The goal of the Veterans Career Services initiative is to welcome transitioning military veterans into the health IT field - a growing and promising area for technologically-adept veterans.
Chapters have an opportunity to support this noble cause by sponsoring HIMSS17 registration for a Veteran, Transitioning Service Member, Eligible Spouse or Survivor interested in a career in health IT.
On February 19, VCS guests are invited to a day-long career "boot camp", hosted by the HIMSS Veterans Career Services, where speakers, subject matter experts and fellow veterans share their experiences on transitioning from military service into a civilian healthcare IT career. Additionally, VCS guests are free to attend any of the over 300 educational sessions, explore the exhibition space, as well as have many opportunities to network with peers, employers and other service organizations.
To sponsor an eligible veteran, or to learn more about this program and its criteria, check out the VCS Webpage. This opportunity will close on December 31, so act fast!
