Call To Action

Veterans Career Services Scholarship
HIMSS, in collaboration with Bellevue College and the United States Department of Labor, Education and Training Administration, is committed to assisting our veteran population gain knowledge of professional development and employment opportunities within health information technology (health IT).  The goal of the Veterans Career Services initiative is to welcome transitioning military veterans into the health IT field - a growing and promising area for technologically-adept veterans.

Chapters have an opportunity to support this noble cause by sponsoring HIMSS17 registration for a Veteran, Transitioning Service Member, Eligible Spouse or Survivor interested in a career in health IT.

On February 19, VCS guests are invited to a day-long career "boot camp", hosted by the HIMSS Veterans Career Services, where speakers, subject matter experts and fellow veterans share their experiences on transitioning from military service into a civilian healthcare IT career.  Additionally, VCS guests are free to attend any of the over 300 educational sessions, explore the exhibition space, as well as have many opportunities to network with peers, employers and other service organizations.

To sponsor an eligible veteran, or to learn more about this program and its criteria, check out the VCS Webpage.  This opportunity will close on December 31, so act fast!

Nursing Informatics Workgroup Survey
Participate in this year’s HIMSS Nursing Informatics Workgroup Survey!  Since 2004, HIMSS has surveyed the Nursing Informatics Community to gain an understanding of the roles and responsibilities of the informatics nurse professional. We need your feedback to complete the big picture for 2016. This survey will capture current professional status, salary and practice trends, while identifying changes that have occurred over the years in the nursing informatics workforce. Share Your Insights.

HIMSS Health Story Project
Join the Health Story Project for their educational, quarterly Roundtable sessions centered around improving the care experience by working to create a more comprehensive, sharable patient record. In their recent Roundtable, presenters from the Sequoia Project and ONC shared C-CDA validation tools currently available. You can view this session’s recording and slides here and read more about the value of such tools in improving care.

Interested in attending future Health Story Project Roundtables or sharing your own C-CDA Implementation experience as a future Roundtable panelist? Submit your story for the Health Story Project!
