Chapter Elections – Take Action and Plan
It is important to have a well thought out plan when preparing for the FY18 Chapter Board elections. HIMSS offers several tools and templates to ensure a smooth election process. Please review the material on the CLRA and reach out to Jordan Blinn or Angie Gorden with any questions or assistance. All chapters must adhere to the HIMSS fiscal year (July 1 – June 30), including election cycles.
Smart tips for chapter elections:
Please send your updated board list to firstname.lastname@example.org immediately following the election.
- Plan the process early (start now if you haven’t already)
- Create and follow an election timeline (example on CLRA)
- Include the entire board in the election process
- Ensure board descriptions are current and make any necessary changes
- Vet all nominees with your membership list (a full HIMSS membership is required to serve as a board member, this is not optional and chapter only memberships do not count)
- Start planning for succession
