ICYMI…New Program at The Interoperability Institute

The Interoperability Institute has launched a new program in partnership with the Healthcare Information Management System Society (HIMSS) Michigan Chapter and the Department of Learning Health Sciences at the University of Michigan Medical School.

As the world moves to the “cloud,” the interoperability and integration of systems, services and content outside the walls of every organization becomes an essential cross industry critical success factor.  The Interoperability Institute develops and operates Interoperability LandTM (IOL) positioned to become the premiere, online community designed to facilitate multi-organization development, integration, acceptance, and usability of innovative technologies and open standards.  Working in partnership with the HIMSS Michigan Chapter and Learning Health Sciences faculty, the IOL persistent technology “sandbox” uses synthetic data to strengthen an open API curriculum.  In its initial phase, this open API curriculum will be incorporated into classes at the University of Michigan where it will be tested and enhanced in rapid succession so that other teaching institutions can benefit from its improvement.  The HIMSS Michigan Chapter partners with the Interoperability Institute to engage healthcare professionals, and other organizations who are seeking to partner on data standards conformance, demonstrate interoperability solutions, and to enable the education of the next generation health information technology workforce.
