Mari Savickis - VP Public Policy, CHIME
Mari is a long-time advocate for leveraging technology smartly, she champions policies that improve the clinical experience for providers and patients alike, and which promotes innovation and competition.
She currently serves as Vice President of Public Policy with the College of Healthcare Information Management Executives (CHIME) she serves as the voice in Washington, DC for chief information officers (CIOs), chief security officers, and other c-suite executives charged with the purchase and secure deployment of healthcare technology. Mari oversees all advocacy and interaction with federal agencies, the White House, and Congress on behalf of CHIME.
Mari leads a wide swath of health IT policy priorities including those touching interoperability, cybersecurity, privacy, patient safety, telehealth, connected care, and next generation technologies including machine learning and 5G. She has adeptly led several coalitions, and she thrives working with a variety of stakeholders.
Her policy expertise spans numerous federal laws including the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA), the Health Information Technology for Economic and Clinical Health (HITECH) Act, the Medicare Access and CHIP Reauthorization Act (MACRA), the 21st Century Cures Act, and the Substance Use-Disorder Prevention that Promotes Opioid Recovery and Treatment (SUPPORT) Act. Mari is also a Medicare subject matter expert.
Nicole Fries - Associate General Counsel AHCCCS
Nicole Fries is an Associate General Counsel for the Arizona Health Care Cost Containment System (AHCCCS), the state's Medicaid Agency.
Prior to AHCCCS, Nicole worked as a legal fellow for Congressman Robert Scott on the Education and Labor Committee in the United States House of Representatives. Nicole previously served as a legal intern at the Arizona House of Representatives and the Arizona Court of Appeals. Nicole attended the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill for her Bachelor's in Public Policy and received her J.D. from the Sandra Day O'Connor College of Law at Arizona State University.
Willa Murphy - Legislative Liason, AHCCCS
Willa Murphy currently serves as a Legislative Liaison for the Arizona Health Care Cost Containment System (AHCCCS), the state's Medicaid Agency. Willa’s previous roles within the agency include a legislative internship and as a Project Coordinator for the Targeted Investments Program. Willa has also worked as a Behavioral Health Technician in Prescott, Arizona, and as a congressional intern in Washington, D.C. Willa received her undergraduate degree from Prescott College with a focus on U.S. Political Systems, and is currently pursuing an MPA at Arizona State University.
Chase Millea - JD, Snell and Wilmer
Chase Millea is the Advocacy Chair for the Arizona HIMSS Chapter and an associate attorney at Snell & Wilmer, focused on supporting client to navigate requirements at the intersection of healthcare and technology. He advises clients regarding HIPAA and related data privacy laws, designing of compliant system architecture and documentation, and commercial and clinical contracting for healthcare and life sciences. Prior to his current role, Chase was In-House Counsel and Directory of Regulatory Compliance for Health Current – Arizona’s statewide health information exchange. Chase is also a Part-time Professor of Law at the University of Arizona James E. Rogers College of law where he teaches a course in health information technology.
