The Speakers:

Kevin Burns is Executive Vice President, Chief Financial Officer and Chief Business Officer for Houston Methodist in Houston, Texas. Kevin oversees financial services and related activities, including financial reporting and budgeting, treasury, the revenue cycle as well as information technology, facilities management and supply chain services.

Kevin came to Houston Methodist in April 2012, from Tucson, Arizona. After serving as the CFO of University Medical Center (UMC) for eight years, he became CEO in 2010. While CEO, he led a merger resulting in the formation of the University of Arizona Health Network, the parent organization of an integrated delivery system including an academic physician practice plan, a Medicaid Health Maintenance Organization and two teaching hospitals. He served as the interim president and CEO of that organization. Prior to becoming CFO of UMC in 2002, he was a partner with Arthur Andersen and was responsible for its health care practice in Arizona and New Mexico.

Having grown up in Arizona, Kevin earned his accounting degree from Arizona State University in 1981 and became a certified public accountant in 1984. He has served as an adjunct professor of accounting for the University of Arizona, and was a past president of the Healthcare Financial Management Association’s (HFMA) Arizona Chapter. In 2009, Kevin was named CFO of the Year for Healthcare Organizations by the Arizona chapter of the Financial Executives Institute.

Currently, Kevin serves Texas and the Houston community as a member and past-Chairman of the Board of Directors of The Immunization Partnership (TIP), and is a member of the Board of Directors of HFMA’s Texas Gulf Coast Chapter. He was appointed to serve on the Texas Hospital Association Policy Committee on Hospital Reimbursement. He also is a member in good standing of the AICPA and ASCPA. Kevin shares his passion for cycling as co-chair of the Team Houston Methodist MS150 cycling team.

Adam Tallinger is a Vice President with Impact Advisors and serves as the Epic Program Director for Houston Methodist.  He is also a licensed pharmacist with over twenty-five years of experience in electronic health record implementation, IT management, executive leadership, informatics, and pharmacy operations.

He has extensive experience in Epic implementation and post-live support. His specific expertise includes enterprise, inpatient, and pharmacy clinical systems implementation; project management; system design and development; operational change management and culture shaping; executive advisory services; documentation development; and end-user training and application support.

Adam has served as a program director at multiple large scale implementations in the inpatient and ambulatory space. He has experience with not-for-profit, for-profit, and academic medical centers. He excels at enhancing patient care through the incorporation of technology as a partner, setting and leading to expectations, and building proactive learning cultures.
