The recent findings of the 2019 US Department of Homeland Security Analytic Exchange Program Vulnerabilities of Healthcare Information Technology Systems team on patient safety and cybersecurity will be discussed. Hear about how operational technology and information technology are converging and what you can do to ensure safe and secure operations.
Hear about cutting edge innovation (micro-electromechanical systems “MEMS”, artificial intelligence, augmented reality, and other disruptive technologies) and the respective security challenges. Understand the current and future state of innovation and countervailing threats.
Learn about the cybersecurity trends both past and present. Additionally, findings from the 2019 HIMSS Cybersecurity Survey will be discussed.
Lee Kim is the Director of Privacy and Security at the Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society (HIMSS) North America. Kim’s roles include subject matter expert, public policy professional, and analyst. Kim is a member of the US Department of Homeland Security Analytic Exchange Program. Kim is an AV Preeminent peer review rated attorney in healthcare and intellectual property law.
Kim authors domestic and international works on topics which include information privacy, cybersecurity, law, and public policy. Kim's publication credits include GCN, ABA, Digital Health Legal, Nursing Management, and the California Continuing Education of the Bar.
Kim presents before a variety of audiences—technical, non-technical, and legal—for entities which include ABA, CERT/CC, Cisco, ICSJWG, FDA, NIST, OCR/HHS, Health Care Industry Cybersecurity Taskforce, (ISC)², PBI, RSNA, SANS, Sectra AB, Strafford, and Verizon.
Kim is a licensed attorney in the District of Columbia and Commonwealth of Pennsylvania and a registered patent attorney with the United States Patent and Trademark Office. Kim’s professional work experience includes system, network, database, and web administration and legal experience in the fields of intellectual property, information technology, privacy, cybersecurity, healthcare law, and EU GDPR.

Joe Susai is the Director of Information Security at SSM Health a Catholic, not-for-profit health system serving the comprehensive health needs of communities across OK, IL, MO and WI through one of the largest integrated delivery systems in the nation.
Joe is responsible for strategic and operational oversight for building and managing the IT security framework, program, incident response and policies at SSM Health.
Joe brings in 25 plus years of experience in IT Infrastructure and Security covering Finance, Hospitality and Healthcare sectors.
Joe has successfully managed various IT and security projects that includes, datacenter design/migration, VoIP design/implementation, data network design/implementation and various security projects such as Firewall Services, IDS/IPS, Content Filtering, SEIM, DLP and more.
Joe holds a bachelor’s degree in computer science and a master’s in management.
