Where Are Our Members

If you are a HIMSS South Dakota chapter member and especially if you have attended our Spring HIT Forum, then you have experienced the benefit of pulling together Health Information Technology professionals from across South Dakota. Events like the forum are my favorite part of being a HIMSS member in South Dakota, it provides opportunities to network and share knowledge and ideas with other talented HIT people in our state.

I wonder though if you would be surprised to learn that HIMSS South Dakota now has 448 members? We have grown from a group of a few dozen when the chapter was founded in 2010, and crossed the 400-member boundary in 2016. We are honored to have HIMSS members from Sioux Falls and Rapid City but groups of HIMSS members are growing in Aberdeen, Brookings, Yankton, Madison, and Mitchell, just to name a few.

We are encouraged by the continued expansion of our membership, as we truly wish to provide education, networking and professional support to information technology professionals working in the healthcare industry in every part of South Dakota.

Be sure to check out HIMSS.org if you don’t already do so, it is a great resource in a great many ways. One current example is this series of 30-minute webinars leading into the HIMSS 2018 convention in Las Vegas. These webinars are also approved for Continued Education credits for HIMSS credentials.

The Program Committee is finalizing the topics and speakers for the Spring Forum, which is scheduled on May 1 and 2 at the Sanford Research Center. We are planning a two day event with two tracks along with a vendor session. It is looking to be a great event!
