Karen will discuss an approach for describing data as an asset, based on patient data flow and the data and information lifecycle. She will present a case study that demonstrates how specific tools and processes brought concept to reality within a healthcare organization.
Karen Knecht has over 30 years of healthcare operations and healthcare information technology experience. She has provided consulting services for provider healthcare organizations, assisting them in strategic planning and implementation of advanced clinical computing technologies to improve the quality and costs of care. Her particular focus is on how healthcare information technology can deliver healthcare providers the critical information required to provide a safer, more effective patient care environment. She has provided these services for major medical centers across the United States as well as for organizations like the National Institutes of Health Clinical Center in Washington, D.C. as well as in the U.K. with the National Health Service and in Singapore with SingHealth. Additionally, she has been instrumental in developing and supporting the methodologies and tools that support these projects including tools that support informatics and analytics related initiatives. Her current focus is on assisting organizations respond to the federal and national initiatives that are underway to transform current reimbursement fee for service models to new value based reimbursement models based on performance around clinical quality measures.
