Samir Tapiawala Senior Manager IT, Optum Insight | Samir brings over two decades of experience as an entrepreneur in the healthcare sector that includes a similar number of years as a healthcare professional and over 12 years in the digital health space. He ventured into health IT and launched a cloud-based platform to connect players of the healthcare ecosystem for the seamless exchange of health records. As an independent consultant, he has worked with digital health start-ups and helped them design, develop and launch products.
Samir is currently working as Senior Manager, IT with Optum Insight (a United Healthcare company). He holds Masters in Health Informatics, Diploma in Business Management, and is a licensed medical practitioner of Homoeopathy (India) with Bachelors in Homoeopathy, Medicine, and Surgery. |

Renee Broadbent CIO, Southern New England Healthcare Organization (SoNE)
| Renee Broadbent joined SoNE HEALTH as Vice President of Information Technology in January of 2021 and will direct all information technology initiatives and requirements. This will include a deep and integrated involvement in the technical aspects around ingesting, storing, and disseminating data in a timely and secure manner. She was recently promoted to Cheif Information Officer at SoNE. Renee is a senior level healthcare executive with extensive background in strategic planning, information technology, population health management and data security. She has held the role of Chief Information Officer and Chief Information Security Officer in both hospital health systems and Managed Care Organizations (MCO). Prior to joining SONE, Renee served as Senior Manager at Wolf & Company, P.C. and as AVP of Population Health Information Technology and Strategy at UMass Memorial Health Care in Worcester, Massachusetts. While at UMass Memorial, she was a member of the leadership team that achieved $22 million in savings for the Accountable Care Organization. She also led the data and analytics team to help UMass Memorial Health Care achieve HIMSS Stage 7 Analytics for both inpatient and outpatient, only 2% of health systems in country achieve this honor. Renee serves on several advisory boards related to technology and higher education and is Adjunct Professor at Southern New Hampshire University. Additionally, Renee is an accomplished author, publishing in a variety of healthcare related journals and periodicals. |
Carly Bamford Human Resources Recruiter Intersystems
| Carly has been an IT recruiter for over 5 years. She joined SevenStep, a recruiting outsourcing company, after graduating from the University of Dayton in 2016. In that role, she recruited for Equifax, CVS and Aetna. Last February, she decided to go in-house and became a recruiter for InterSystems, a data technology company in Cambridge. In this role, she has been recruiting for Implementation, Quality Development, Learning Services and Marketing. |
Smajl Cengic Student Advisor Northeastern University
| Smajl was born and raised in a small town called Banovici in Bosnia and Herzegovina. He immigrated to the US in 1996 as a refugee after the four-year-long war ended.
He earned his Master of Management from Cambridge College, as well as a graduate certificate in workforce development from Northeastern University. He received his Bachelor of Arts in economics from the University of Massachusetts, Boston.
Smajl spent his first five years in the US helping refugees and immigrants to find their first jobs in the country. He then spent eleven years advising and helping urban young adults to continue their college education. At the same time, he was working on his degrees. There are two reasons why he chose this career: one, he loves guiding young adults through the process of choosing their career paths; and two, he loves working with the population that Khoury College serves.
Smajl teaches students the skills they will need to succeed in their professional lives, as well as develop relationships with employers and students. He most enjoys teaching the co-op seminar. He is most compelled by creating opportunities for students to improve their careers and lives. |
Arthur Harvey Senior Vice President and Chief Information Officer (SVP & CIO) Boston Medical Center |
Arthur W. Harvey III, MS has 30 years of experience in the healthcare informatics field with a particular focus on building high performing HIT teams at provider organizations. He currently serves as Senior Vice President and Chief Information Officer at Boston Medical Center Health System overseeing overall IT strategy for both Boston Medical Center and the Boston Medical Center HealthNet Plan. Arthur holds a BA from Boston College in Economics and Computer Science as well as an MS in Information Technology Management from Brandeis University. He serves on a number of industry boards and is currently the chair of the CIO Council for the New England Chapter of HIMSS. |
