Please join the HIMSS Houston chapter for a discussion on Virtual Care and Monitoring, presented by Roberta Schwartz, Steve Klahn and Lindsay Randle, from Houston Methodist. The event will be on November 17th, from 5:30 to 7:30 pm at UT Health School of Biomedical Informatics. There is paid parking available in the same building.

Join us as we explore successes and lessons learned in building a virtual ICU launched weeks before the pandemic, and the hospital’s plans for growing its virtual care and remote monitoring efforts to create targeted care plans for patients.

Executive Vice-president and Chief Innovation Officer, Houston Methodist
Roberta L. Schwartz is the executive vice-president and chief innovation officer of Houston Methodist Hospital, one of the Texas Medical Center's founding institutions. She is responsible for overseeing all operations at the 952-bed hospital, which has been named by U.S. News & World Report as the #1 hospital in Texas for 11 straight years and also has been named to the publication's prestigious "Honor Roll" of America's best 20 hospitals six times. In her role as chief innovation officer, Roberta is responsible for advancing and expanding Houston Methodist's digital innovation platforms, including telemedicine, artificial intelligence, and big data.
Roberta earned a master's in health science from Johns Hopkins University and honors undergraduate degree from Barnard College at Columbia University. She has a Ph.D. from the University of Texas School of Public Health.
Steve Klahn, MBA, RN, CCRN-K, FACHE
System Clinical Director for Virtual Medicine, Houston Methodist
Steve Klahn is the system clinical director for Virtual Medicine at Houston Methodist, leading both the Virtual ICU and TeleNursing programs. He is a Registered Nurse and has served in various administrative roles over the last 15 years. he has over 22 years of critical care experience and is dual board-certified in critical care nursing (CCRN-K) and healthcare leadership (FACHE). He has a passion for collaborating with clinicians and incorporating technological innovations to optimize patient care.
Lindsay Randle
Director, Virtual Medicine Operations, Houston Methodist
Lindsay is responsible for overseeing system operations for Virtual Medicine hospital programs including Telepsychiatry, Telestroke, Telesitter, Virtual ICU, and Telenursing, with scope including program development, management, optimization and data integrity. Lindsay is dedicated to improving healthcare operations and has a passion for ensuring patients receive the right level of care at the right time.
Prior to joining Houston Methodist, Lindsay worked as a Practice Administrator for Texas Children's Hospital and held various positions within revenue cycle and hospital operations throughout her 12-year tenure. Lindsay earned a Master of Business Administration from Texas Woman's University and is Lean Six Sigma Green Belt certified. Lindsay also holds an Advance Quality Improvement and Patient Safety certificate.
