Academic Alliance Corner - This Year's Scholarship Awardees!
by Thao Tran, Chair, Academic Alliance Committee
This year, the HIMSS SoCal Academic Alliance Committee (AAC) is pleased to announce our four scholarship recipients: Danica Ramos, Andrew Do, Oliva Ng, and Gina Hernandez. We are very excited about their achievements – please read about our AAC scholarship stars on our website at http://socal.himsschapter.org/scholarships-0.
The Academic Alliance Community has been one of our fastest growing sectors of our Southern California Chapter volunteer groups. The Student Mentorship available through AAC may be unknown and is often underutilized by students. We had the opportunity to speak with Tom Mason about his recent experience in the AAC Mentor Program and available resources.
Committee Profile: Advocacy
By Ian Slade, President-Elect for HIMSS Southern California Chapter
With over 50 HIMSS Chapters across the United States, HIMSS helps connect members with local, state and national decision-makers on key health IT issues. For the Golden State of California, the Northern and Southern Chapters have come together to create a unified voice to better address State-wide issues.
This year, the Advocacy Committee is happy to introduce its new line-up!
Please join us in welcoming our team:
New Committee
We are very excited to announce a new SoCal HIMSS committee – Patient Engagement, chaired by Clark Kegley. The initial focus of the Patient Engagement Committee will be to develop a robust, effective program that engages patients and solicits feedback on engagement from the southern California community. The committee developed a Patient Engagement focus group from within our active membership. The first program the committee will kick off is the Patient Experience Conference in San Diego on January 20th 2017 with keynote speaker Susan Taylor, the Executive Director of External Affairs for Scripps Health. Susan will be sharing a powerful patient story experience she had with father. This is a must see event!
