Call To Action
2017 Annual Standards Report The 2017 version of the Annual Standards Report is now available on the Chapter Leader Resource Area. As always, the Annual Standards Report is due on July 31! Please include the entire board in the process of completing the report and read more about our Annual Standards Webinar below. Angie and Jordan are always happy to answer questions.
New this year, HIMSS is working to automate the process through an online tool, Reviewr. This electronic forms submission tool will allow chapter leaders to complete and submit their annual standards report online. Hopefully this online tool will allow chapter boards to coordinate and plan report submission, ensure timely completion and ensure the most accurate data is being compiled all while going paperless. Based on the initial demo, Reviewr will make it easy for all chapter board members to participate as well. FY18 Chapter Leaders can expect additional details regarding Reviewr as we make final changes to the finished online reporting tool. Stay tuned!
Chapter Elections HIMSS hopes the chapter boards has already begun the FY18 Chapter Election process, but for those who have not, it's never too late to have a well-thought out plan. HIMSS wants to set chapters up for success and offers several tools and templates to ensure a smooth election process. Please review the material on the CLRA and remember all chapters must adhere to the HIMSS fiscal year (July 1 – June 30), including election cycles.
As chapters groom new volunteers to hold leadership roles, it is important that chapter leaders are familiar with HIMSS policies and procedures.
As soon as elections are finalized, please send the FY18 board list to chapters@himss.org.

We have had the good fortune of having several chapters participate in these longstanding programs, and hope that others will join in on this wonderful way to recognize student and veteran members by supporting their career development! 4-Week Chapter Recruitment Challenge! After our inaugural 4-Week Chapter Recruitment Challenge, we are happy to report that thanks to the help of our local chapters HIMSS added over 200 new members in less than a month! The chapter with the highest percentage increase in membership during this 4-week challenge will win registration, airfare and hotel expenses to the 2017 Chapter Leader Exchange at the HIMSS Innovation Center.
Our contest ended last week and the winning chapter is Idaho with a 3.1% total chapter membership increase! Congratulations to the Idaho Board for their hard work and dedication to HIMSS.

June Chapter Leader Webinars This month we hosted two chapter leader webinars focused on chapter board transition. On June 7 we presented "Chapter Annual Standards Report Overview" and on June 21 we presented "New Chapter Leadership Training."
The Chapter Annual Standards Report Overview Webinar discussed HIMSS' reporting requirements and why we ask chapters to complete the document. From there all 10 annual standards are highlighted by section and review report changes for 2017. And as reported earlier, we are planning to implement the Reviewr Online Tool for future annual standards report submissions.
New Chapter Leadership Training ideally brought all new chapter board members up-to-speed on tools and resources available for them to strengthen their local leadership skills. During this session we review all HIMSS Chapter Leader resources and requirements. FY17 Chapter Task Force Chair Christopher Kunney presented Chapter Board Governance tips and best practices. In addition, FY17 Chapter Task Force Member Alan Thriffiley presented on volunteerism ("What it means and why managing volunteers is unique").
Both of these invaluable webinar recordings are available at the Chapter Leader Resource Area under "Chapter Leader Webinars." Check them out today or send us any questions at chapters@himss.org!
