Maryland 13th Annual Health IT Day – Governor Hogan Proclamation

 

 

     Annapolis, Maryland (January 23, 2020) – Maryland Gov. Larry Hogan has issued a proclamation declaring January 23rd, 2020 Health IT Day in Maryland. In accordance with the proclamation, Hogan acknowledges this day is an opportunity to bring together clinicians and technology stakeholders to share knowledge and professional experiences to advance and improve quality of care.

 

     In support of the proclamation, the Maryland Chapter of the Health Information and Management Systems Society (HIMSS) is pleased to announce their 13th Annual Health IT Day will occur today. Held at the Anne Arundel Medical Center conference center in Annapolis, over 100 leaders are expected to convene. The event provides a forum for discussion of both Federal and State of Maryland Health IT Policy initiatives to improve the health of Marylanders and others whom we serve through information and technology. Clinicians, heath information technology stakeholders and leaders from healthcare provider organizations will gather together to discuss improving overall health outcomes and quality of care. Legislators from the Maryland General Assembly, including the House of Delegates and the State Senate, along with the Office of Governor Hogan, will join in the dialogue surrounding how we can leverage technology to help transform the delivery of healthcare in Maryland. “We are delighted that Health IT as an enabler to improving healthcare for Marylanders continues to be a strategic priority in Annapolis ,” said Kathryn A. Whitmore, President of the Maryland HIMSS Chapter “We appreciate the engagement with Governor Hogan, the General Assembly, and our Chapter members as we serve together to achieve our shared goal of improved health outcomes.”

Well known thought-leaders and industry reaction panels are included in the event today; organizations to be represented include: The Johns Hopkins University, Maryland Health Care Commission (MHCC), CRISP, Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society (HIMSS), Anne Arundel County Department of Health and MedStar Health.
