Healthology Symposium (Oakland University, School of Health Sciences, Rochester, MI)

The MI Chapter of HIMSS is sponsoring a Resume Workshop for students and a presentation“Your Primary Product: You!”, at 2:45 p.m. on May 1st.  The featured speaker, Kevin Northrup, CSEP, CPHIMSS, will focus the presentation on the value of professional networking and self-managing one’s career.  A schedule for available time for the resume workshop will be released shortly.     Conference Theme: “Better Upstream Health, Better Downstream Care: It Takes a Team”

    The Healthology Symposium “where science, practice, and social interests meet” provides a culminating focus for faculty, students, alumni and community partners to celebrate impactful research and scholarship that affect health outcomes. Health care leaders and providers will gather to discuss the importance of addressing the “upstream” social determinants of health in achieving better “downstream” care within the scope of clinical and diagnostic teams. The discussion will dive into the importance of collaborative medical settings in the battle over community health crises, including a keynote address from Michael Laposata, M.D., Ph.D., professor and chairman of the Department of Pathology at The University of Texas Medical Branch. This symposium is a call for public awareness and professional action.


    11th Annual Connecting Michigan for Healt Conference (Lansing, MI)

    The Michigan Chapter of HIMSS is a sponsoring partner to MiHIN since the inception of the Connecting Michigan for Health Conference eleven years ago.  [Note: This annual conference is related to the MI Chapter of HIMSS’ Advocacy and Public Policy efforts.]

    This year’s conference has three components: the Connectathon, Legal Summit and Connecting for Michigan Conference. Each of these conference components are described below:

    Free Event - Connectathon Healthcare Vs. Finance “Throwdown” 2019

    One-Day Legal Summit (a Connecting Michigan for Health featured event)

    • Conference Title: "Boosting the Legal Landscape: Positioning Michigan’s Legal Community for National Interoperability"
    • Dates / Times: Monday, June 3, 2019, 9 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

    • Conference Theme: The 2019 Legal Summit will include pressing topics around national interoperability, the sharing of behavioral health information, and recent legislation pertaining to the opioid crisis. There will be an emphasis on building Michigan’s legal community through the facilitation of interactive panel discussions and multiple networking events.

    11th Annual Connecting Michigan for Health Conference

    • Dates / Times: Tuesday, June 4 and Wednesday, June 5, 2019, 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM (Breakfast and registration will open at 8:00 AM, and event will begin at 9:00 AM) plus an evening Networking Reception on Tuesday, June 4th.
    • Location: Lansing Center, 333 East Michigan Avenue, Banquet Rooms 1-6, Lansing, MI 48933
