Healthcare and Health IT are hot topics this year both nationally and for the State of Texas.  I love doing my part to help inform the Texas Legislature about issues that are important to all of us! - Kristin Norton

I am excited about participating as a constituent and advocate to learn about the process on our Texas Hill! While making calls to strangers is not my thing, I found that all the staffers are extremely receptive. This also feeds my passion about making changes at the policy level. - Elsie Banks

Texas Health IT day is a great opportunity to meet with Texas legislators vital to supporting the ultimate goal of health IT which is to improve the health of the patient in Texas.  Telemedicine, interoperability, cyber security and syndromic surveillance are some of the approaches that rely on the targeted application of technology to reach this goal and we are excited to share this information with members of our state government. - Lillian Prince

I'm a health IT marketer and blogger, but I'm new to HIMSS and recently became a member of the Austin chapter. I signed up for Health IT Day because it's a great way to get involved and  meet folks across Texas who feel strongly about health tech. I know it can be intimidating to talk to legislators, but HIMSS has made it really easy to participate. - Dan Greenfield
